Portland – OHSU (Knight Cancer Institute)
The Portland – OHSU (Knight Cancer Institute) PCSG was formed in 2016. In 2016, the group also became affiliated with ACA, which promotes Prostate Cancer Education, Support and Advocacy.
Meetings are held on the 1st Tuesday of each month.
Meetings begin 5:00 PM
We know that living with prostate cancer affects not just you but also your spouse and your entire family. A solid source of support can make a tremendous difference when you or someone you love is going through or recovering from cancer treatment. Join us on the first Tuesday of each month at the OHSU Center for Health & Healing to share experiences and resources with others on a similar journey.
Prostate Cancer Support Group
Our prostate cancer support group meets monthly and is very active in the community through our prostate cancer advocacy group. We are here to give you the information and emotional support you need. We can also help you create a support plan that meets your needs. We provide counseling and emotional support for prostate cancer patients and their families.
Meetings are facilitated by Peter Bennett, M.S.W., oncology social worker; Rachel Slotke, clinical research project manager for prostate cancer research; and Justina Lynch, R.N., nurse coordinator for the multidisciplinary prostate cancer clinic.
Each meeting begins with brief introductions and announcements. Then an expert speaks for about 45 minutes on a relevant topic, saving time for questions. The last 30 minutes are reserved for informal check-in and discussion. Following the meeting, you are welcome to use the comfortable furniture and visit informally in the first-floor lobby.
